Emma Victoria Digital’s Contribution to #Newsbab Campaign in Birmingham

Emma Victoria Digital was approached to join the BBC Birmingham team to help create and promote #Newsbab. This campaign aimed to promote the relocation of BBC Newsbeat, BBC Radio 1, BBC 1Xtra, and Asian Network to the West Midlands. Emma Victoria Digital played a crucial role in creating and promoting this inspiring campaign, which included various digital content strategies and collaborations.

Collaborative Efforts

Working with the brilliant James Mobbs – a skilled designer responsible for creating captivating visuals for the campaign, this collaboration ensured consistent and visually appealing branding across the BBC and Radio 1 platforms.

As a part of the #Newsbab campaign, Emma Victoria Digital’s task was to write engaging copy for the BBC social channels and website. This involved promoting the launch of the BBC Newsbeat relocation and advertising journalism job opportunities available to the public. The team successfully integrated the #Newsbab branding across all digital channels, creating a cohesive and memorable user experience.

Printed Merchandise

The impact of the #Newsbab campaign extended beyond the digital realm. At various pop-up careers events, the campaign made a lasting impression with its impressive array of branded merchandise. To this day, I still receive compliments whenever I whip out my trusty notepad.

Notably, the elegant branded reusable coffee cups were highly praised and were proudly displayed on the front table for visitors to collect on their way. The sleek design and use of the campaign’s branding served as a constant reminder of the campaign’s core goals and message.

Birmingham’s Billboards

To mark the move, billboards with the hashtag #newsbab were shown around the city, including on the Aston Expressway and the Bullring thanks to the team at Elonex. This relocation aimed to bring news coverage and content production closer to the Birmingham community.

These strategically placed billboards served as beacons of the #newsbab campaign, capturing the curiosity and engagement of passersby. By featuring this prominent #Newsbab hashtag, the campaign sparked further conversations and generated buzz within the community, emphasising the significance of the momentous relocation.
